There’s a new challenger in the tightly contested local crossover segment in the form of the recently launched Suzuki Vitara. This all-new subcompact SUV, which was first shown to the world at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, features a modern and hip exterior design and sporty and youthful interiors.
The new Vitara features a snub-nosed front, new circular fog lights, and wraparound headlamps with DRLs. The GL+ gets 16-inch rims while the GLX gets 17-inch alloys. The GLX variant also comes with a panoramic sunroof. At the rear are hexagon-shaped taillights, large back window, and a single rear center foglight.
Inside, there’s a three-spoke steering wheel with multimedia controls, a touchscreen infotainment system (10-inch for the GLX; 7-inch for the GL and GL+), 12V power socket, and automatic climate control.
The seats are high-quality fabric; the GLX model, however, gets a combination of leather and suede-type fabric for a classier feel.
Powering the all-new Vitara is a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 115hp and 156Nm, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Two-tone options are available for the roof, pillars, and door mirrors for GLX, and monotone colors for GL + and GL models. GLX variants have three color options: Atlantis Turquoise Pearl, Horizon Orange Metallic, and Bright Red Metallic. Meanwhile, the GL+ and GL varaints are available in Cool White Pearl, Silky Silver Metallic, Galactic Gray Metallic, Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic, and Atlantis Turquoise Pearl.
