Sony reveals new Xperia Z1 with 20.7MP camera

41_Xperia_Z_1Sony’s new flagship smartphone puts together a lot of the multimedia strengths that the company has thrown to the tech world. Here’s the deal. The Xperia Z1 is still water-proof like its predecessor, encased in a one-piece aluminum frame protected by tempered glass on the front and back. If you’re into taking photos while swimming or texting while in the bath tub, the Xperia Z1, with IP55 and IP58 ratings, would do you right. The Xperia Z1 is also pushing power specs further. It packs a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, NFC, and LTE. The 5-inch 1080p screen uses TRILUMINOS  Display technology, which hails from Sony’s Bravia TV lineup. To make sure you get ample time to support these features, the Xperia Z1 comes with 3000mAh battery for all-day entertainment. Now, we move on to the crazy part: the 20.7MP camera. I know, right? This uses a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS for mobile CMOS sensor and Sony’s 27mm wide angle G Lens. This is something we’re itching to put to the test. 13_Xperia_Z_1_RangeJust by looking at the Xperia Z1, it’s impressive how Sony was able to keep the aesthetic simple and clean. No flashy design; no chunky, protruding parts. But of course, with the ever-tighter competition now, one cannot rely on hardware bells and whistles alone. WALKMAN, Movies, and Xperia Camera Applications got your back. The Xperia Z was a curious one and made us pay more attention to Sony mobile. Seeing the hardware and software features, the Xperia Z1 appears to be a solid contender for smartphone dominance. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for the local release following the global launch this September. Words Aritha Zel Zalamea
