Wands up, Potterheads! You may not have gotten your Hogwarts letter when you were 11, but you can soon fulfill your lifelong dream of becoming a real wizard.
Niantic, Inc., makers of the hit mobile game apps Pokémon Go and Ingress, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced the upcoming release of the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, a new game that will let players experience J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World in real life.
Using augmented reality technology on smartphones, the game transforms your local surroundings into a landscape filled with wizarding elements. Players can explore neighborhoods and cities, learn spells, discover mysterious artefacts, and fight legendary beasts. The game also allows them to team up with others to take down powerful enemies.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is the first title to be released from the new collection of mobile and console games set in the wizarding world under the new label Portkey Games.
Warner Bros. and Niantic will announce more details about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite in 2018.
