The LG G7 ThinQ ticks a lot of boxes that one looks for in a flagship device. Aside from packing solid internals, it also adds layers of smarts via artificial intelligence.

Here are five things you should know about LG’s new premium device:

1. It has an A.I.-powered camera

The dual camera setup at the rear is a combination of a normal f/1.6 shooter and a wide-angle one with f/1.9 aperture. This means both cameras can capture photos even in low light. Built with artificial intelligence, the camera can recognize what it’s looking at—including people, sky, landscape, beach, and food—and automatically adjust the color, contrast, and saturation.

2. Low light? No problem!

During the official Philippine launch earlier this month, LG commissioned up-and-coming director Mikhail Red to do a short video to showcase how the G7 ThinQ’s camera delivers a higher range of details, more vivid colors, and striking luminance when capturing both moving and still subjects. Mikhail’s video also demonstrated how the phone’s Super Bright Camera feature delivers clearer, more focused images even in low-light settings.

3. It offers an awesome audio experience

The G7 ThinQ comes with a Boombox Speaker that increases the base sound level by more than 6dB with twice the amount of bass. In other words, it’s 10 times louder than a typical smartphone.

Audiophiles will also appreciate the G7 ThinQ’s 32-bit Quad DAC and DTS:X 3D Surround Audio.

4. Google Assistant is integrated

LG added a Google Assistant hotkey on the left edge of the G7 ThinQ so you can activate Google Assistant with one tap. (You can still summon it by saying, “Hey, Google,” if you wish.) LG worked with Google to create 32 custom commands, many of which are designed to help you take photos faster—such as “Take a photo with low-light mode” and “Open camera with AI Cam.”

The G7 ThinQ also sports Super Far Field Voice Recognition, so you can give Google Assistant commands even from five meters away.

5. It’s got a notch that you can hide

The massive 6.1-inch LCD panel comes with a notch (or “second display,” as LG calls it) that you can hide via software setting. This makes screen bezels appear on both sides of the notch to create a continuous, seamless look on the top edge of the display. You can use that new bar to view notifications.
