The Black Art of Photography
Interview by Manny N. de los Reyes

You've witnessed her magic on the pages of the country's premiere fashion and lifestyle magazines and newspapers. Your eyes have glossed over her subtle nuances of light and shadow. You've marveled at the seemingly effortless way she brings out a palette of colors on a model's face.

When Sara Black clicks the shutter, you can be sure that this 25-year-old ex-model has once again managed to create an artwork in a millisecond. Born and raised in Manila, this half-British, half-Filipina beauty went to Ateneo de Manila to take up Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She's certainly into the arts, but her communication is more on the visual side. And what visuals! Know more about what makes this very much in-demand photographer and graphic artist click.

What projects are you busy with at the moment?
I just got back from Tokyo to shoot an exhibit for Sony with four other photographers (and pals)-Jun de Leon, Mark Nicdao, Jake Verzosa, Joan Bitagcol. My next couple of days are filled with editorials for Mega and Metro.

Busy sked! So tell us, what made you decide to pursue photography?
After I graduated from college I wanted to do something exciting but lucrative-not stuck at a desk job where I would have to time in and time out! Photography has always been a passion and everything just kind of fell into place, heading in that direction, so I just followed my gut.

What are your favorite subjects to shoot?
People, because they are always so enigmatic.
