With the sheer number of cameras figuring so prominently on this month's cover, I guess the blurb proclaiming that this is the Digicam Issue is largely superfluous.
As a techie magazine, our ears are constantly glued to the ground to detect exactly which tech toys are most often found in the hands of our dear readers. And time and again, we find that, next to cell phones and even more than iPods, digital cameras are very often in your minds. Which is why we have an issue devoted primarily to cameras-both the still and camcorder types-every year.
With a camera, we can capture all the memories we want to keep for posterity with a simple press of a shutter button. And since we're focusing (pardon the pun) on cameras in this issue, what better time to celebrate these devices than by delving into the near-magical world of imaging? Not only do cameras preserve our memories, they even help us enhance them: color, black and white, sepia, night scene, fireworks, beach, foliage, high-speed, low-speed, horizontal, portrait, close up, wide angle-name it, the digital camera can do it.
And when you start flipping through the succeeding pages, you'll find a lot more that you can do with cameras-and digital photos- than you can ever imagine.
Of course, this doesn't mean that our emphasis on photography comes at the expense of the other equally cool tech toys out there. You'll still have your fix of the newest and hottest cell phones, computers, music players, sports equipment, and then some.
Happy shooting! (Pictures, that is.)
