It's summertime and I fervently hope (for your sake) that the reason you bought this copy of SPEED is because it's our annual Sports Issue, and not just because you wanted to see more of the curvaceous Juliana Palermo on the inside pages.
Let's face it. A lot of us would do well to engage in more cardiovascular activities to offset our increasingly sedentary lifestyles. And what better time to pump up your ticker and work up a sweat than the hot and sunny months starting with March.
We may be a technology magazine but that shouldn't stop us from trying to do your health some good - especially in an age when a typical technogeek workout is speed texting with your thumb or risking carpal tunnel syndrome from marathon gaming sessions.
Of course, health isn't the only thing that goes hand in hand with sports.
Technology is right up there too. Which is why we had a grand time putting
together our cover story for this month. I love tennis and I can play it ova and ova (that's what happens when you write an editor's note in the middle of the
Australian Open with the likes of Maria Sharapova, Daniela Hantuchova, Nicole
Vaidisova, and Iveta Benesova grabbing all the TV airtime). Check out my piece on the technological evolution of tennis rackets as well as golf clubs.
Editor-at-large (and now Action & Fitness Editor-in-Chief) Andy Leuterio is even more of a sports buff; ergo his inspired takes on biking and extreme sports hardware.
But getting back to cover girl Juliana? if you did buy this issue because of her, then let's hope you get inspired enough to work out so you can have a figure like hers (if you're a girl) or at least have the build to be worthy of having someone like Juliana - or Juliana herself - arm in arm with you (if you're a bloke).
Happy SPEED reading and enjoy the summer!
