SEPTEMBER 2004 ISSUE

Color-full

A colored photograph need not be a second-stringer to the black-and-white in romanticism. This photograph with Lucy Watmore is an example of how Angeles deftly represents abstract subjects concretely. The subject of this photograph is color, in its full frosty and compelling glory. There is no soft lighting to mute the hues; instead, hard light and the white background make the tones stand out. With colors ranging from deep, glossy pink to dusty sea-foam green, this photograph is a tribute to the sensuous appeal of color.
