The Rise of the Middle Class

Mazda 6
P 1.105M

Mazda's 6 sports sedan is a victim of a wrong name. I believe its real name was supposed to have been Mazda Sex but political correctness got the better of its product planners. I say this because the 6 is absolutely oozing with sex appeal. (Check out my review in last month's issue.) The sleek styling, the sporty sounding engine, the taut suspension, the racy interior - everything about this car just screams, "GO!" What's more, its build quality and overall fit and finish are right up there with established names like Honda and Toyota. Its overt sportiness comes at a price, though, as some may feel that the luxury/prestige part of the equation has been compromised by the 6's almost boy-racerish posturing. We certainly don't. - Manny N. de los Reyes

Grins: Knockout styling, zoomy interior, inspired handling, cool moonroof, priced right

Grimaces: Needs more ponies, no available leather seats, a little short on the luxury side of the equation

The Lowdown: A motorized fountain of youth - drive it and feel like a teenager with a new driver's license again.
