The Rise of the Middle Class

Honda Accord
P 1.114M (VTi) to P 1.280M (VTi-L)

It's fast, it's spacious, and it's oh-so-smooth. If you long for the ride and build quality of a Bimmer but can't (or won't) cough up the big bucks, an Accord is a perfect choice. The angular, avant-garde styling isn't for everyone, but it says class with its tight panel fits, top-grade cabin materials, and subtly futuristic look. The lovely i-VTEC motor is matched to a slick 5-speed automatic, the power steering is precise and gives lots of feedback, and pedal response is right on the dot most of the time. The Accord is softly sprung, but the majority of bumps and small road imperfections are magically filtered out without deadening precious driver input as to how the chassis is responding. As usual, controls, instruments and buttons are all logically laid out in typical Honda common sense, accompanied with silky movements of the dials and buttons. - Andy Leuterio

Grins: Solid chassis, smooth powertrain, high-quality feel in and out.

Grimaces: Thick A-pillars mar the view out. I can't afford one? yet.

The Lowdown: Euro driving at a Japanese price point.
