The Wheels of Tomorrow

Mitsubishi Sport Truck
There's no dearth of inspiration at Mitsubishi when it comes to concepts, especially concept trucks. Trucks and SUVs have always been major contributors to US vehicle sales and so the Sport Truck is Mitsubishi's take on what the market might want for urban warriors. Mitsubishi's concept injects a healthy amount of aesthetics and performance into the traditionally square and boxy pickup truck. The monocoque body features a wraparound windshield reminiscent of a racing helmet. The cab-forward pro le includes a C-pillar that smoothly transitions from the bed to cabin. 22" custom alloy wheels are pushed out to the corners of the vehicle to maximize interior space and create stable and responsive handling characteristics. The front fascia uses ellipsoid projector headlamps, projector-style foglamps, and neon turn signals in a floating bezel. Side mirror housings are transparent to increase frontal visibility.

The 4-passenger interior utilizes chic materials inspired by contemporary urban lofts. The rear seats can "expand" up and out, sliding into the rear bed to become jump seats. With the seats in the aft-most position, the rear window opens to become a windshield for the rear passengers. The cockpit features configurable LCD displays for the driver, a dial-type transmission shifter, and paddle-type steering controls. A "Visopia" LED system provides infinitely variable cabin lighting patterns, colors and animations.
