The IDEA 2004 Awards

Ford Shelby Cobra Concept
Santa, this is what I want for Christmas. This concept won gold in the Design Explorations category, and fittingly so. Elegant and effective, with an emphasis on clean lines, speed, and elimination of "anything in excess," usual fixtures such as windshield wipers, side mirrors, and a convertible top are eliminated; door handles are positioned up and inside the doors, lest they distract from the sleek bodylines of the car. Modern as it may be, the concept claims to have even bigger front-seat legroom than the full-size Ford Crown Victoria sedan. Video cameras recreate real-time color images on the rear-view "mirror" (which is actually a screen), giving a 180-degree view of the competition (or stares of pure envy).
